Tuesday in the Octave of Easter

We weep because someone dear to us has moved on and may be lost to us forever. We feel sad, lonely, and abandoned because we can no longer be with the ones who are nearest and dearest to our hearts. We are at a loss and we do not know what to do with ourselves.

That is why when Jesus reveals himself to us, we feel out of sync somewhat, as if we are looking at an illusion. Can we really embrace the Lord once again in our arms? From feelings of loss and sadness, we suddenly encounter the presence of one thought to be gone and has now returned. We are confused.

There is reason to grieve and go through the unhappiness of separation, but we are consoled by him who reassures us that he has conquered the eternal abyss. Our true destination is now with him forever. Let our tears flow because our hearts are filled with hope and joy. We are to be reunited with him when the right time comes, and happiness shall be ours until the end of time.
