Using the New American Standard Bible, 1995 Edition (NASB) (NASB ’95 text edition)—recognized by pastors and Bible scholars for being the “gold standard” among word-for-word Bible translations—as its English base text, ExegeticalPreaching.com provides examples of how to properly interpret a passage of Scripture for personal application as well as public preaching. These “exegetical nuggets” provide pastors with an ideal framework for preparing their own exegetical sermons. It also includes transliterated Greek and Hebrew terms to aid those who are not fluent in the languages.

”We’re excited about the launch of this new exegetical resource. It serves as a reminder for our readers that we’re more than a Bible publisher,” says Melinda Bouma, vice president and publisher of Zondervan Bibles, a division of HarperCollins Christian Publishing. “Our goal is to connect people to God’s Word, through our Bible projects but also through unique content partnerships like this one, that can aid the church in a deeper understanding and communication of God’s Word.”

Zondervan Bibles collaborated with Dr. Jonathan Pennington, associate professor of New Testament Interpretation at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, along with several of his doctoral students, to provide content for the blog. ExegeticalPreaching.com is free to access, and new content will be added every other week. For example, the article for March 31 is titled, “How Beatitudes Work” and begins:

“Jesus’ Beatitudes (Matt 5:3-12) are arguably the most famous of his teachings, the opening to his most famous sermon, what we call now The Sermon on the Mount (Matt 5:1-7:29). Despite this deserved fame, there are many technical questions about the Beatitudes that are not always clear. We can explore three of these important questions here.

“First, how many Beatitudes are there? This would seem obvious, but a survey of Christian interpretation across the centuries and in modern commentaries reveals that opinions vary. Throughout much of history Christians said there are seven (connecting them to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit in Isaiah 11:2-4)….”

In keeping with the development of ExegeticalPreaching.com, Zondervan Bibles has also published Bibles in the NASB translation of particular interest to pastors: the NASB Preacher’s Bible (Zondervan, 2020) and the NASB Single-Column Reference Bible (Zondervan, 2020).

The NASB Preacher’s Bible‘s easy-to-read print, double-column layout, and thick, opaque paper bring the words into clear focus for reading out-loud in public. The elegant cover and three satin ribbon markers complete the package making it a top choice for any preacher.

Pairing the NASB Preacher’s Bible with the NASB Pew and Worship Bible unlocks its true design ingenuity. While each Bible retains its distinct font and page layout, they were skillfully crafted so that the pages of these two different Bibles begin and end with the same word. Now pastors no longer need to preach from pew Bibles to be on the same page as their congregations.
