Darkness is a convenient cover for those up to no good. Some immoral and misguided youth resort to secretly videotaping lewd acts from hidden corners, of course. This gift of procreation has been inappropriately cheapened for creepy entertainment value or personal impropriety. Whatever the case may be, what’s meant for a meaningful intimate private moment should never be publicly displayed in deference to the parties involved.
That’s why in most legendary tales and traditional folklore, the battle between good and evil has an obvious simile to light and darkness. Even when we view programs featuring this common theme, distinguishing the villains from the heroes is a breeze based on shades and color scheme alone. That dynamic has been an endless struggle through the ages, and continues to present itself even in new media today.
What can be a consoling fact for us is that lit lamps can easily
dispel the cloak of deception that aims to engulf us. Jesus encourages
us to show a dark and stark reality the kind acts, the caring hearts,
the encouraging hugs that can bring that much needed light, especially
when that unceasing night seems so overwhelming. When those in despair
witness that love present in their real situation, even their dim
vision is brightened by such hope.
Let us always pray to share this light with everyone. Lets us not be
content to keep it hidden when it’s meant to shun away all cruelty,
aggression, and arrogance. Let love light the way. Be the light for a
better world.
