Hebrew scholar and Semitic languages specialist Dr. Larry Walker, the last living translator of the original team of biblical language experts who produced the New International Version (NIV) of the Bible, died March 8, 2021 at age 88.
According to CT, he cared deeply about accuracy and specifics, believing a commitment to the doctrine of biblical inerrancy could serve as the basis for the highest quality of scholarship.
“Larry Walker was an Old Testament scholar and stalwart defender of the full authority and truthfulness of Scripture,” says Southwestern Seminary president Adam W. Greenway. Walker was professor of Old Testament and Semitic languages at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1967 to 1980.
