I have been delighted by my new role as editor of Catholic Exchange, the much-loved website co-founded by my father in 2001. More specifically, I have been delighted by my interactions with you, our readers, writers, and authors.
Your passion for engaging with and sharing inspirational Catholic content fills me with joy and confidence amidst the turbulence of our time. Your passion, which I see as a fruit of the Holy Spirit, ripples widely through your circles, your communities, and beyond via our platform.
Especially recently, I’ve witnessed why Our Lord commands us to spread the Good News of the Gospel. I lead an RCIA formation class, and I begin each semester with the question: “What has led you to join this class? Why are you sitting here tonight?” The answers, and the discussions that follow, provide a powerful launch for the course.
The candidates and catechumens range from 20 to 70 years old. They have lived all over, come from all faith backgrounds, and their present circumstances vary widely. The common threads uniting them: something in their hearts is motivating them to grow closer to Jesus; that motivation was in most cases inspired by someone; and they’re being drawn to the Catholic sacramental life in particular.
So it is usually a person, or people, who have led them to enter (or enter more fully) into Christ’s one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. A spouse, a fiancée, a friend—someone moved them. And as the course unfolds, they begin noticing how they (or Christ in them) move others.
Our Lord commands us to evangelize because He knows that it is through meaningful connections that He enters most powerfully into our lives. We sometimes don’t see it, but “they will know we are Christians by our love” rings as true now as it did in the first centuries of the Church.
I have long been inspired by the witness of others. I am inspired by your witness. And I am delighted to share it by expanding the reach of Catholic Exchange so that your passion, witness, and love can touch more lives.
To do so, I ask you to please continue contributing your time and prayerful engagement with our platform, but I must ask for your financial support as well.
